We’re looking for a visionary Solutions Architect to bring strategic, technical leadership to SaskTel’s Business Solutions & Services (BS&S) division—especially in the evolution and support of our ServiceNow platform. You’ll guide the planning, design, and implementation of cutting-edge infrastructure—spanning cloud, network, compute, security, IoT, and more—delivering real impact for SaskTel and our customers. As the trusted technical advisor, you’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, translate complex needs into practical solutions, and influence the direction of major initiatives across the province. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Accountable for the evolution of existing (planning, research, development) services and creation of new and innovative infrastructure (data centre, network, compute, storage, security, application, IoT etc) to support SaskTel's Business Solutions services and SaskTel customers.
2. Ensures the infrastructure solution is capable of providing all technical requirements in a practical and cost-effective manner through analyzing future business requirements, future technical requirements, and objectives.
3. Works closely with the tactical design and assurance teams, suppliers, other SaskTel resources and SaskTel Customers to determine technical and business requirements and ensure that assurance processes have been developed.
4. Plans, design and coordinates the implementation of infrastructure, applications or policies for SaskTel and SaskTel customers.
5.  Accountable for researching and prototyping technical/infrastructure solutions, vendor landscape, creating and recommending short and long term strategies, and preparing Executive presentations for required services to meet SaskTel's and customers business needs.  Prepares and maintains strategies, plans, policies, educational presentations, and standards as required based on this research.
6. Manages technical/infrastructure products and services through their lifecycle by developing and ensuring execution of product introduction and retirement plans..
7. Provides professional advice/consulting and high level support regarding technologies, strategies and services to various internal teams including middle and senior management.
8. Accountable for managing technical project teams that will consist of both SaskTel employees, contractors, and customer employees. Provides leadership, direction and support directly to the customer and /or partner on pertinent technical developments.
9. Leads and participates in customer technology advisory initiatives, conduct customer technology and business assessments, including the assessment and design of customer technology architectures, integration strategies and technology/service roadmaps.
10. Provides consulting services inclusive of advisory, assessment, and architecture services which includes translating customer business challenges or objectives into technical solutions.
11. Participates in all aspects of the employee lifecycle including hiring, performance management, coaching and mentoring employees.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's Degree OR Technical Certificate and 3 years relevant experience OR 6 years equivalent experience in a related field.
2. Current standing of advanced vendor certification(s) as specified in the posting.
3. Thorough knowledge and understanding of information management technologies and management disciplines, along with extensive experience in the application of information technology principles, methodologies, and techniques. Experience in technology planning and/or infrastructure (data centre, network, compute, storage, voice, security, application) design, consulting, implementation, support or operations is desirable.
4. Experience in developing customer proposals and contracts.
5. Experience with developing and/or maintaining business relationships with customers and solution partners. Demonstrated expertise in managing & negotiating contracts, license agreements and service level agreements with vendors, partners, consultants and customers.
6. Demonstrated analytical, business and technical leadership in developing & delivering IT Products, Services and Solutions.
7. Management skills to plan, coordinate and control the resources needed to effectively support major projects.
8. Experience with financial management and budgeting.
9. Strong team leader and member, able to develop staff and influence the performance of others.
10. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to influence and deal effectively with others.
