GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable for developing application plans that map out, and map to, the strategies and steps for the delivery of business applications to the enterprise (Telco).  Responsible for developing the solution architecture that defines how solution components will be assembled and will interact to deliver business functionality.  Ensures that Information Systems work towards developing business value including reusability, security and privacy.  Accountable for developing practical and cost-effective plans for the orderly introduction of applications. Provides consultative expertise to senior management through consulting, studies, and recommendations as required.  The scope of this position will include the needs of other Holdco subsidiaries and external partner organizations.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Responsible for providing leadership in developing and communicating IS application strategies and principles.  These may include; acquisition strategies, retirement strategies, development strategies, integration strategies, and implementation and support strategies.
2. Works closely with client areas, as well as the applications development, technical, and operational areas to bring together and develop business application plans, designs, and transition plans to deliver future business functionality.
3. Advises IS and associated client areas, and keeps them informed of application strategies by developing and communicating short and long term application plans.
4. Evaluates the impacts of changing business drivers on the Application Architecture, and advises IS and associated client areas on focus areas for new application, data, and technology requirements.
5. Responsible for managing a repository of information including enterprise standards, architecture and methodology.
6. Provides leadership in development of reusable software-based services and other initiatives to develop IS solutions. Facilitates smooth handoff to implementation areas as appropriate.
7. Maintains industry knowledge and awareness and applies best practices when developing IS application strategies.
8. Ensures tactical alignment to architecture strategies.
9. Accountable for staffing, employee development, work plans, and general administration for Solution Architecture.  Cultivates and sustains a team environment that encourages innovation, leadership, decision making, research & analysis, teamwork, initiative and open communication.  Promotes and models the corporate values.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. University degree in Information Technology or related discipline, or a Technical Institute diploma in Information Technology or extensive experience in a related position.
2. Ability to apply Information Technology by analyzing business requirements and priorities, and formulating comprehensive plans for solutions.
3. Broad knowledge of IS best practices and enabling technologies with extensive experience in the application of information technology principles and techniques, IS architecture and planning methodologies
4. Strong team leader and member, able to work effectively in chairing or serving on multi-disciplinary committees while influencing the performance of others.
5. Knowledge of the Telco industry, SaskTel departments/subsidiaries organization structures, operations and relationships.
6. Ability to plan and monitor the implementation of high profile projects.
7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to deal effectively with others.
8. Information Systems Professional (ISP) designation desirable.
