GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable for planning leadership in Information Systems (IS) Infrastructure focusing on setting the vision for SaskTel s IS Infrastructure and developing the architectural roadmap to achieve that vision.  Responsible for defining how business drivers influence SaskTel's IS Infrastructure plans and ensuring IS Infrastructure plans contribute to meeting SaskTel s corporate strategies and objectives. Responsible for managing a team of IS Infrastructure Planners that develop practical and cost-effective plans for the orderly introduction and deployment of IS Infrastructure to SaskTel.  Accountable for advancing automation and simplification initiatives in IS Infrastructure, ensuring continuous innovation and automation in alignment with Techco best practices.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Accountable for developing strategies, plans and principles for SaskTel s IS Infrastructure.  Defines a strategic direction  future state  for SaskTel s IS Infrastructure and a  roadmap  to realize that target.
2. Accountable for the development of the IS Infrastructure architecture plan in alignment with SaskTel Strategic goals and associated demand budgets (capital and out of pocket expense).  Maximizes profitability
through the preparation, monitoring and control of annual budget allocation.
3. Accountable for the development of high level IS Infrastructure solutions designs and cost analysis to support corporate projects, ensuring alignment with HTS strategies and Corporate Security Policies
and standards.
4. Represents the IT Domain in the Holdco Technology Strategy (HTS) Architecture Planning Team in defining an overall architectural future state and in reviewing projects for architectural compliance. Works
closely with other HTS Domains (e.g. Applications, Data, Network and Process) and with client areas to develop IS Infrastructure plans that support SaskTel s business strategies & objectives; HTS strategies; and client area needs.
5. Accountable for advancing automation and simplification projects, ensuring continuous innovation and automation in IS Infrastructure.
6. Leads and directs a team responsible for managing IS Infrastructure major internal projects ensuring requirements, scope and deliverables are met.
7. Communicates, publishes and educates about strategic direction for IS Infrastructure and the overall Holdco Technology Strategy as required. Advises IS and associated client areas on planning projects and keeps them informed of IS Infrastructure domain strategies by developing and communicating short and long term plans.
8. Evaluates the impacts of changing business drivers on the IS Infrastructure and advises enabling and client areas on focus areas for new requirements.  Continually updates the IS Infrastructure plans to
reflect the evolution of the industry and alignment with corporate priorities.
9. Maintains and expands a working knowledge of relevant current and future technologies and best practices for incorporation into SaskTel's IS Infrastructure strategies and plans as applicable.
10.Provides leadership to develop and encourage high performance and a positive team environment. Assesses the performance of staff members using tools such as PFEs for formal feedback, setting individual
employee objectives and training/development plans.
11.Accountable for SaskTel s IT industry research contracts including contract negotiation, administration and performance monitoring.
12.Responsible for reviewing idea proposals and business cases for IS infrastructure requirements, ensuring accurate costing estimates and compliance with IS and security standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. University degree in Information Technology, Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; or, a Technical Institute diploma in Information Technology and extensive experience in a related position.
2. Broad knowledge of IT best practices and enabling technologies with extensive experience in the application of information technology principles and techniques, IT architecture and planning methodologies.
3. Demonstrated ability to provide strong analytical, business and technical leadership.
4. Demonstrated ability and significant experience in developing business and technical recommendations.
5. Strong team leader and member, able to work effectively in chairing or serving on multi-disciplinary committees while influencing the performance of others.
6. Knowledge of the Telco industry, SaskTel departments/subsidiaries organization structures, operations and relationships.
7. Ability to plan and coordinate/monitor the implementation of high profile projects.
8. Professional certification as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Information Systems Professional (ISP) or equivalent designation is desirable.
