GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
As part of the IT Operations management team within SaskTel’s Business Sales & Solutions Division, this position is accountable for overall data centre and IT Infrastructure operations.  Reporting into the Director , IT Operations, this role leads a highly skilled technical team dedicated to proactively delivering exceptional customer service through operational excellence.  The IT Operations Manager - Data Centre works in partnership with other SaskTel teams and vendors to deliver industry leading data centre services to our valued customers.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Accountable for SaskTel and ICT data and infrastructure including day to day operations of network, compute and storage environments.
2. Responsible for all data centre infrastructure implementation and enhancements including assessment, planning, testing, implementation, change, configuration release and service request management.
3. Preparing and managing annual data centre budget.
4. Quality management of all data centre customer product implementations including proof of concept planning and implementation, documentation for customer colocation implementations and implementation of data centre policies and procedures following industry best practices.
5. Accountable for meeting customer service level agreements and objectives, colocation customer reporting and continual service improvement.
6. Provides 24/7 Tier II hardware, software and application support and monitoring and completes hardware, software and application maintenance activities.
7. Interfaces with vendors and manages T4 vendor support organizations.
8. Provides Data Centre infrastructure planning, capacity planning, network planning and metrics.
9. Responsible for data centre infrastructure and software licensing and contract management and negotiations.
10.Support internal SaskTel Business Units with technical expertise as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education and training in Information Technology, normally gained through post secondary education at the University Degree or Technical Institute level or equivalent experience in a related field.
2. Experience at developing and/or maintaining business relationships with solution partners.  Demonstrated expertise in managing contracts, negotiating license agreements and service level agreements.
3. Extensive experience in the application of information technology principles, methodologies and techniques. IE.  ITIL, CMM, Project Management.
4. Demonstrated analytical, business and technical leadership in delivering IT Products and Services.
5. Management skills to plan, coordinate and control the resources needed to effectively support major projects.
6. Strong team leader and member, able to select and develop staff and able to influence the performance of others.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to influence and deal effectively with others.
