Service Representative (Business Sales - Incented Sales Rep)

JOB SUMMARY

Represents SaskTel in various types of business contacts. Responsible for determining customers business priorities using proven sales methodologies and providing solutions that provide value to customers. Responsible for promoting the sales of business products and services in a complex business environment. Completes internal work and procedures to ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded. May include attendance on customer premises as required.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

(Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments)

  1. Determines customer needs and requirements using proven sales methodologies in a competitive environment. Initiates/prepares sales proposals and recommends optimum solutions to the customer. Utilizes support personnel as required.
  2. Sells products and/or services on an initiated and/or demand basis. Participates in sales campaigns on an initiated and/or demand basis.
  3. As prime customer contact, responds to inquiries/ complaints and resolves disputes.
  4. Prepares or arranges for the completion of legal contracts, forms and credit applications. Assigns customer credit ratings. Negotiates with customers for security arrangements.
  5. Initiates/prepares associated forms (i.e. service orders, etc.) for personal sales activity and those referred from other sales channels. Activates services and/or features on real time basis. Reviews service orders and associated forms for accuracy.
  6. Maintains related reports and updates mechanized and/ or manual systems.
  7. Provides input to revenue and equipment forecasts and assists in account and quality contact planning.
  8. Assists Sales Associates, Sales Coordinators, Account Reps, Account Executives, other internal departments and External Dealer Channels as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Working knowledge and ability to demonstrate techniques needed to persuasively promote the sale of complex Business products and/or services, typically gained from 2 years in a Sales role.
  2. Working knowledge of SaskTel products and services.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to handle business customer contacts with tact, diplomacy, and courtesy at all times, particularly when handling complaints and resolving disputes.
  5. Good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  6. General knowledge of SaskTel Business Sales products and services (wireline, wireless, and/or digital media services).
  7. Working knowledge of personal computers and various software applications.
  8. Good multi-tasking skills.
  9. Successful completion of prescribed training courses.
  10. Keyboarding skills 20 wpm.

SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Occasional in province travel required.
  2. Overtime may be requested.
  3. Works shifts as per the Collective Agreement.
  4. Neat appearance and appropriate business attire is necessary.
  5. Occasionally visits customer premise.
  6. Works in a continually changing environment.
  7. Complies with all safety, health and environmental policies, programs and standards at all times.

Hours of Work:

  • This is classified as a casual - part time position which means that SaskTel cannot guarantee a set number of hours per week.  Hours are scheduled according to business needs. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday (8:00am – 5:00pm).
  • Our Service Representative currently average approximately 30-35 hours per week but this can vary and is based on business needs. 
  • This is a unionized position, and you will become a member of Unifor once you commence employment.  Positions that are of a more permanent nature (permanent part-time, permanent full-time) are awarded based on seniority and qualifications.

 

Shifting:

  • Service Representatives are shifted 5 days per week and have various start times. Our Casual Part Time shifts vary in length and are currently between the hours of 8:00-5:00pm Monday - Friday but may evolve based on business needs to include evenings and weekends. 
  • Ideal candidates will be expected to be flexible in their working availability. 
  • There are two types of working shifts. One shift is a scheduled shift where these will be released 30 days prior to the shift.  The other type of shifting is a day-of call-in shift where we would call you in to work the same day.  It is an expectation of SaskTel that you would accept nearly 100% of your scheduled shifts as well as at least 80% of the day-of call-ins.

 

Training:

  • Training is typically scheduled for full-time shifts.  Although you will be working various shifts in this position, the training is very structured.  Training will start on your first day of employment and will cover orientation, SaskTel specific systems training as well as technical training. 
  • Passing the training program is a condition of your employment.
  • You can expect to train between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday to Friday based on training requirements (generally 5 weeks of full-time training). 
  • This is fully paid training, and you must be available to attend 100% of the training.

 

What you can expect:

  • If you are shortlisted for this position you will be emailed an assessment to assess your typing speed and knowledge of sales. Our assessments are administered through a third party company called ESkills. These assessments take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. Please complete within 48 hours of receiving.
  • You may be contacted via email or phone to complete a telephone pre-screen with a member of our staffing team if shortlisted.
  • An acceptable criminal record check is a condition of employment at SaskTel.
