POSITION OVERVIEW


Provides solutions using computer applications and systems based on business requirements. Designs and directs the development, installation, enhancement and support of complex computer systems. Directs programming staff. Administers IT resources allocated to projects.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments)

 

  1. Performs system analysis and consulting for complex computer systems.
  2. Prepares requirements, designs, development specifications, project schedules, estimates, test plans, performance requirements and documentation for computer applications and systems.
  3. Directs programming staff in program analysis, program design, coding, testing, implementation, documentation and support of software applications.
  4. Monitors schedules, deliverables and resources for projects and adjusts as required to ensure objectives are met. Develops business cases and manages internal projects and/or assists clients in developing business cases and managing their projects through the appropriate systems development life cycle.
  5. Directs the day to day support and enhancements of computer systems and assists clients in the effective use of their systems formal or informal training and consulting.
  6. Plays a major role in the training and development of programming staff.
  7. Maintains current knowledge of technical advancements as they pertain to application development and support. Researches new methodologies, standards, guidelines and tools and recommends changes.
  8. Develops and maintains the corporate business and data models ensuring accurate data and business rules are defined and applied.
  9. Provides systems analysis and consulting services related to improving our clients business processes and/or adapting them to changes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. The candidate must satisfy one of the following experience levels in combination with the specified educational background. The experience level as specified must be current and contiguous experience in developing and /or supporting applications software in a professional IT development environment:
    a) Recognized University Degree majoring in Computer Science with a minimum of three years experience. OR
    b) Recognized Technical Institute Diploma in Information Systems or a recognized University Degree in Administration, Commerce or Science/Engineering or Information Systems Professional (ISP) designation with a minimum of four years experience. OR
    c) Five years experience.
  2. Working knowledge of the posted discipline (i.e. Systems Analyst, Project Manager, Solution Architect or Data Architect), typically gained through two years current experience in a senior role or one year experience as a SaskTel Systems Analyst in the posted discipline and demonstrated proficiency in the technical environment if specified.
  3. Excellent problem analysis/solving appropriate to the posted discipline
  4. Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.
  5. Ability to lead, direct and coach others.
  6. Demonstrated initiative and leadership.
