GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable to provide technical solutions for dynamic business initiatives by working with the business to develop detailed technical requirements, producing technical designs and models, test plans, and software to ensure the proper delivery of these new initiatives to SaskTel’s customers. Responsible to understand and evaluate new technologies, providing recommendations for their deployment within SaskTel.  Provides consultative expertise within the Technology Division on the use of analytics tools and data science principles, data visualizations and dashboards, and data management as well as presenting insights to senior management.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. As a technical expert and widely recognized authority, is responsible for the continuous acquisition of new knowledge and skills.  Acts as a mentor to members of the Data and Analytics development team and provides guidance to others in the corporation who require understanding of advanced Data and Analytics technology. Influences the thinking of upper management in the department and other areas of the corporation.
2. Architectural design authority for Data and Analytics technologies. Accountable for the automation of complex Data and Analytics methodologies.
3. Provides technical consulting to influence SaskTel’s business direction by understanding and relating emerging technical and industry trends to Marketing or other lines of business.
4. Responsible to contribute to the development of technical requirements for vendor selection, provide recommendation for vendor selection and to assist in the management of vendor and partner relationships.
5. Required to anticipate, plan, gather requirements, design, build, test or implement technical solutions involving current and evolving Data and Analytics technologies. In some situations, this may drive the need to build cross-functional teams from several departments and provide leadership to deliver complete solutions.
6. Accountable to provide ad hoc project management for smaller corporate initiatives specific to new technology introduction.
7. Drives change within the organization. Accountable for decisions relating to leadership, business, and technology that influence strategic plans and programs affecting our business.
8. Accountable to ensure that the Data and Analytics Development lab keeps pace with leading edge Data and Analytics technologies.
9. Provides tier 4 support for Data and Analytics technologies.
10.Accountable for professional reports, presentations, and studies that SaskTel management can rely upon as input to corporate decisions

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education and experience (one of the following combinations):
   a. University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Physics, Statistics, with at least two years of relevant Data, Analytics, Telco, Network, or Cloud technology experience. For Engineer title, candidate must be registered as a Professional Engineer or Engineer In Training with APEGS.  OR
   b. Diploma or Certificate in Data Analytics, Engineering Technology, with at least six years of relevant Data, Analytics, Telco, Network, or Cloud technology experience.
2. Demonstrated, thorough knowledge of Data and Analytics technology that should include specific knowledge related analytics methods, data science principles, data engineering, data visualization, and data management.
3. Knowledge of Telco Cloud architectures, Software Defined Networking, telecommunications networks, IP networks, and standards bodies such as ETSI and 3GPP are an asset.
4. Ability to understand and implement new and emerging technologies to deliver new products and services.
5. Must possess creative as well as analytical skills.
6. Ability to function well in ambiguous situations, with particular emphasis on emerging technologies.
7. Effective in partnering with vendors and other departments within SaskTel.
8. Must be familiar with SaskTel’s planning, budgeting, and procurement systems.
9. Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills. Presentation skills are considered an essential asset.

This is an on-site position located at the location(s) above. The successful candidate must be located within the province of Saskatchewan. Out of province/country candidates must be willing to relocate. Flexible work opportunities, in province, may be available.
