Finance Manager-Corporate Accounting

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable for the preparation of the financial statements and related information for the SaskTel Annual and Quarterly reports.  Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the monthly Management and Board of Directors financial reports for the SaskTel Holding Corporation and Subsidiary companies.  Responsible for accounting and reporting of complex business combinations and related party transactions within the Corporation.  Ensures all transactions and reporting is in adherence with International Reporting Standards (IFRS).  Accountable for the timely and accurate financial reporting to CIC, Stats Canada, Province of Saskatchewan, CRTC and other external agencies and companies.  Ensure all reporting meets CEO/CFO certification.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Accountable for monthly financial reporting to SaskTel's Executive, Board of Directors and all SaskTel employees in accordance with professional standards.
2. Accountable for preparing the Holdco quarterly financial statements for inclusion in the Quarterly Financial Report (public financial statement) reviewed by external auditors and approved by the Executive, Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
3. Accountable for preparing quarterly financial information to Crown Investment Corporation, Department of Finance, Statistics Canada, CRTC and other external agencies is accordance with professional standards.
4. Responsible for preparing the annual audited financial statements approved by the Executive, Audit Committee and Board of Directors for inclusion in the Annual Report and tabled in the Legislative Assembly.
5. Responsible for liaison with internal and external auditors on audit matters related to financial controls, financial statement presentation and analysis.
6. Accountable for planning and scheduling month-end, quarter-end and annual required activities, meetings.
7. Accountable for the SaskTel System of Accounts – defining the content and classification of revenues and expenses for the Holding Company and subsidiaries.  Also accountable for the development and communication of Corporate Procedures providing guidance for those responsible for processing financial transactions including accrual and prepaids guidelines.
8. Accountable for providing the bi-weekly key indicator report to the Executive.
9. Accountable for financial accounting and reporting requirements for complex and varying business combinations in accordance with IFRS.
10. Accountable for implementing new or revised accounting standards affecting financial reporting to ensure compliance with IFRS.
11. Responsible to ensure all Holdco general ledger accounts are analyzed, reviewed and reconciled monthly in accordance with established financial control best practices.
12. Responsible for interacting and maintaining an effective working relationship with senior management, subsidiaries and external auditors.
13. Responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and sustaining a team environment through:
    a. Selecting qualified and capable personnel
    b. Promoting innovation, teamwork, initiative, open communication, and excellent customer service
    c. Ensuring team is positioned to meet the expanding IFRS, CEO/CFO and business requirements.
    d. Participating and supporting the Partnership for Excellence process
14. Lead and contribute to special projects as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA).
2. Strong comprehension of IFRS and accounting theory and the ability to apply to new and existing processes.
3. Thorough understanding of corporate accounting policies and procedures.
4. Solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior management throughout the corporation.
5. In depth knowledge of the System of Accounts
6. Strong analytical, research, planning and project management skills.
7. Knowledge of the industry and SaskTel, including service offerings and operational processes.
8. Ability to plan, coordinate and manage the activities of others and to direct others towards the accomplishment of team objectives.
