In our Technology Division, you are the heart of an advanced, reliable, and robust telecommunications network that delivers high-quality communications solutions to our customers. You plan, design, implement, and support our internal and external network infrastructure by deploying leading edge, cost-effective technology. SaskTel’s Technology Division is responsible for the Strategy, Planning, Development, Implementation, and Support of all technology related to our Telecommunications infrastructure and services.  

 

SaskTel is at a very exciting moment in our company history. 5G as well as the transition to Cloud technology is revolutionizing the Telecommunications industry. We are becoming more Agile as a company and transitioning to DevOps to gain further efficiencies. This allows for a very collaborative team environment across the Design and Evaluation of technology in close alignment with Implementation and Support, so that we have continuous feedback loops and improvement. 

Located in Regina or Saskatoon, SK our Technology departments has future opportunities for the following:

 

1. Professional Engineer:

You’ll review corporate planning and network information and evaluate existing network elements and new technology options. You develop, maintain, and issue Network Architecture plans, provide input into the development of network strategic plans and the development of the capital and operating budgets.  Engineers are typically located in Regina or Saskatoon.

Education and experience required:

  • Successful Professional Engineers will possess a university degree in Electronics Engineering or Electronic Information Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or Software Systems Engineering, and the eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan. Preference is given to those with experience in telecommunications equipment and systems, plus knowledge of the planning process and economic cost studies.
     

2. Junior Engineer:

You will have the opportunity to plan, design, implement, and support our internal and external network infrastructure by deploying leading edge, cost-effective technology. As a Junior Engineer at SaskTel, you will have the opportunity to help build our technical resources in Telco Cloud, Network, and Services. You will work with our vendors to design and implement Service Provider Networks, Telco Cloud, onboarding Virtual Network Functions and Container Network Functions, and Automation. There will be significant focus on your continual development and achieving your P.Eng.

As a Junior Engineer at SaskTel, you would be paired with a Senior Engineer and Technologists to provide mentorship and direction. Our goal is to leverage the knowledge and skills that you bring into SaskTel, as well as facilitate your growth in becoming a diverse Engineer in the Communications Industry! You will be part of a small team of Engineers and Technologists. This team interfaces with Development groups, Technology Planners, Implementation and Support teams, Marketing and Sales teams, and numerous equipment vendors. These positions will span across Development, Implementation, and Support related to the Engineering of Telco Cloud, Wireless Core, and IP Core. Although the successful candidates will start in one of those areas, there will be opportunities to rotate to other areas to broaden your expertise.
 

Education and experience required:

  • Engineering University degree in any of the following disciplines: Electrical, Electronics, Electronic Systems, Software Systems, Computer, or Physics, and qualified to register as a Professional Engineer or Member in Training.
  • General Knowledge of telecommunications and cloud architectures and infrastructure
     

3. Engineering Assistant (Provisioning):

You’ll design, provision, document, support, and project manage network element implementation projects, customer data, and narrow and broadband service requests. You will ensure that our Core, Access, and Wireless networks are maintained and provide support to internal and external customers during the installation of new and existing technologies.
 

Education and experience required:

  • Diploma in Electronics Engineering or equivalent Diploma as recognized by Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists OR Level 30 Algebra, Geo-Trig and Physics supplemented with training in electronics
     

4. Technical Assistant (Advancing Technologies):

You’ll design, provision, document, support, and project manage network element implementation projects, customer data, and narrow and broadband service requests. You will ensure that our Core, Access, and Wireless networks are maintained and provide support to internal and external customers during the installation of new and existing technologies.
 

Education and experience required:

  • Diploma in Electronics Engineering or equivalent Diploma as recognized by Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists OR Level 30 Algebra, Geo-Trig and Physics supplemented with training in electronics
