GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Join our team as the Director of Employee Wellness Programs at SaskTel! You'll lead the SaskTel Employee's Personal Problem Program (STEPPP), providing confidential counseling services to employees, their families, and retirees. You'll develop and implement policies that comply with provincial, federal, and Canadian Mental Health Act statutes, ensuring effectiveness and confidentiality. In this role, you'll manage SaskTel’s Strategic Wellness Programs, including our Lifestyle Centers, Corporate Wellness Initiatives, and the Respectful Workplace Program. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Serves as a member of the HR/IR senior management team. Attends regular meetings and participates in strategic planning process/decision making affecting the HR/IR business plan.
2. Aligning with SaskTel s Code of Business Conduct and values, accountable to ensure SaskTel provides education and awareness through face to face, e-learning and virtual sessions available to all SaskTel
employees.
3. Accountable to lead the direction of SaskTel s Respectful Workplace Program to ensure up to date resources and information is available through programs/learning and information is in alignment with
legislation.
4. Helps to facilitate a culture of Respect, Civility, and Inclusiveness through Respectful Workplace Direction and Initiatives.
5. Monitors the corporate environment for any systemic issues contradicting SaskTel s Respectful workplace and action and address issues accordingly.
6. Leads, promotes and motivates SaskTel management team and employees in making SaskTel a Culture of Wellness by providing direction and oversight of SaskTel s Wellness Programs which includes oversight of SaskTel s Lifestyle Centers, Corporate Wellness Initiatives and Intranet information.
7. Provides reporting in a timely fashion as per regular intervals or through immediate Executive, Board or CIC requests.
8. Contributes to employee health and well-being by conducting professional assessments, referrals, counseling and education for employees, superannuates and dependent family members for a variety of
personal problems.
9. Ensures a high quality of effective and professional service providers by adhering to the Canadian Psychological Association guidelines for credentials, costs, ethics and insurability.
10.Establishes and maintains a resource network of private counselors and government agencies.  Provides an ongoing monitoring and evaluation process for optimal performance and quality for prospective and current service providers and community agencies throughout Saskatchewan.
11.Focuses on managing health of employees and clients of STEPPP by providing proactive wellness initiatives such as STEPPP awareness seminars, stress management workshops and work life balance, mental health, and a variety of other presentations.  Promotes the development and usage of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) in SaskTel and throughout Saskatchewan communities.
12.Develops EAP policies and guidelines with the assistance of the joint management and Unifor STEPPP Committee members. Reports statistical data to Vice President of Human Resources and   recommends direction and guidelines on issues affecting the strategies and initiatives of SaskTel.
13.Maintains professional accreditations and ongoing professional development.
14.Provides supportive interventions for managers and employees requiring mediation services, critical incidents both on and off SaskTel premises.
15.Operates within the Code of Ethics of the Canadian Psychological Association and other regulatory EAP bodies as well as demonstrating Lifetime commitment to the confidentiality of this program.  Conforms to all relevant policies and legalities as laid out in the CPA, APA, and DSM4R manuals and provincial statutes.
16.Ensures a professional and working relationship is developed and maintained with Unifor s executive team.
17.Develops, negotiates, and implements contracts for acquisition of goods & services related to areas of responsibility.
18.Accountable to minimize and mitigate exposure and impact to business-critical processes through the effective implementation of Business Continuity Plans and in accordance with responsibilities outlined in the Corporate BCM Policy, the Emergency Operations Procedures, and the emergency Alert Procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Degree in Human Sciences (preferably at a Masters level) with relevant clinical training supplemented by several years  experience in a related field.
2. Leadership skills and demonstrated ability to direct and develop others.
3. Proven track record in researching, developing, delivering, and auditing programs that focus on early intervention and prevention.
3. Knowledge of mental health related issues as well as the treatment of alcohol and chemical dependencies.  Certification preferred.
4. A strong understanding of organizational structures and processes including Human Resources management, EAP policy and administration, work organizations and knowledge. Broad knowledge of mental health issues with strong assessment skills.
5. Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to interface with all levels of management, labour representatives, Human Resource managers, medical personnel and community professionals.
6. Flexibility to adjust to high demand situations.  Willingness to travel extensively within the province with irregular working hours including weekends and holidays to meet client's needs.
7. Must maintain a valid driver s license.
8. Knowledge of software systems, record security, legal statutes that apply to EAP, legislature impacting EAP, accounting practices and labour relations policies and the Collective Agreement.
