Senior Engineer-Core Network & Service Development

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
This position is accountable for providing technical leadership and consulting services for the wireline Service Provider Network, Network Standards in broadband and related IP Services.  This position will personally, and as a team leader, provide technical expertise that will result in leading technical changes within SaskTel in this area.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Accountable for the research, development and implementation of products or systems for a test-bed to test procedures, performance and specifications of IP Networks.
2. Accountable for developing and introducing Corporate technical knowledge relating to IP Networks.
3. Accountable for providing professional technical consulting and support to internal and external groups with respect to design, implementation and troubleshooting of IP Networks.
4. Accountable for the supervision of projects and/or personnel associated with this position, and for identifying such projects (eg: technology trials) and the requirements for technical personnel
associated with them.
5. Accountable for maintaining both personal and team technical expertise associated with this position, and for the introduction and dispersion of this technical knowledge within SaskTel.
6. Accountable for professional reports and studies that SaskTel management can rely upon as input into corporate decisions.
7. Accountable for representing SaskTel's interests on national and international committees, study groups and seminars.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. University degree in Engineering in a relevant discipline (e.g. Software, Electronics, Electrical, Physics). Must be registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is preferred
2. At least seven years of relevant experience with a proven track record of leading innovation and delivering service provider networks.
3. Demonstrated expertise in the service provider network, design, development and support, and project management.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of software applications, system integration, data analytics and automation.
5. Demonstrated ability to function well in ambiguous situations, with particular emphasis on emerging technologies.
6. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and apply them to the effective solution of business problems.
7. Ability to develop and maintain a highly technically capable team and to implement an organizational structure which meets the needs of the corporation’s business plan priorities
8. Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
9. Demonstrated commitment to SaskTel's mission statement and corporate core values.
