GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable for the development of the Finance Strategic Business and Transformation Plan, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and Finance’s strategic objectives. Leads the design and execution of practical, cost effective Finance transformation initiatives that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Finance’s operating model. Collaborates with Finance leaders, business stakeholders and other planners to align priorities, refine strategic initiatives, and deliver transformation outcomes.  Responsible for planning and executing change management activities and communications.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Responsible for development of annual operating and human resource budgets and forecasts. Interfaces with divisional management to obtain required information for inclusion in operating and human resource budgets/forecasts. Ensures that the financial plans for the Finance Division are aligned, challenges and negotiates changes as required. Researches and incorporates the potential impacts to strategic opportunities/risks into the Finances Division’s financial plans.
2. Leads the development and ongoing evolution of Finance’s Strategic Business and Transformation Plans, ensuring alignment with SaskTel’s Strategic Plan, corporate priorities, business partner needs, and relevant industry best practices.
3. Partners with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities, risks, and dependencies that inform Finance Transformation Plan and roadmap.
4. Ensures alignment of Finance’s plans with corporate strategy through active participation in the enterprise planning process.
5. Accountable for overseeing Finance transformation-related investments, budgets, and financial outcomes.
6. Monitors industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices and translates them into actionable insights and recommendations for Finance leadership and senior management.
7. Champions the adoption of modern Finance capabilities, including automation, advanced analytics, AI enabled use cases, and improved data integration to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, insight, and decision support.
8. Leads the execution of the Finance Transformation Plan and roadmap, including the definition of objectives, initiatives, timelines, dependencies, and delivery milestones.
9. Accountable to lead the end to end delivery of Finance transformation initiatives including extention beyond Finance ensuring appropriate governance, communication, prioritization, resourcing, integration and issue resolution across delivery teams.
10. Accountable for the development and execution of change management and communication plans to support successful adoption of Finance transformation initiatives.
11. Responsible for development and implementation of Finance workforce planning activities, including identifying future skill requirements, training roadmaps and recommended changes to role, skill, and capacity changes to support strategic and transformation objectives.
12. Collaborates with Finance leaders to develop workforce transition strategies, training plans, and capability building initiatives required to sustain transformation outcomes.
13. Leads the development and reporting of key Finance operating and transformation performance indicators used to monitor progress, outcomes and benefits.
14. Success in this role is measured through demonstrable improvements in Finance efficiency, effectiveness, insight quality, decision support, financial sustainability, and risk mitigation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Post-secondary degree in Business, with a major in Accounting or Finance. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
2. Comprehension of accounting theory, principles, financial reporting standards and importance of internal controls.
3. Experience in Finance related processes, policies, and systems or related experience.
4. Demonstrated analytical, business and technical leadership in business transformation initiatives.
5. Strong team leader and member, able to select and develop staff and able to influence the performance of others.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills with proven track record of influencing decision making through rigorous analysis and compelling evidence/data-based recommendations.
7. Ability to build, manage, and foster client relationships across the organization and external parties.
8. Ability to manage changing priorities, multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
9. Demonstrated innovative approach to productivity improvements with a focus on best practices, process improvement methodologies and successful change management.
